Sterling Heights Post Office Gets New Road

"A nearly 1/2-mile stretch of the westbound Metropolitan Parkway service drive next to the bridge between Van Dyke and Mound roads was repaved recently - much to the relief of postal workers."

...“The service drive gets a lot of traffic because it’s the only
road leading to the Sterling Heights Post Office and it gets a great deal of use from vehicles, especially large trucks, going
into or out of the Chrysler Plant at Metropolitan Parkway and Van Dyke,” Gillett said."

"....the road commission had to find the money to cover half of
the $276,000 estimated cost of the project after Sterling Heights agreed to pay the rest, or about $138,000. The money found its way to the road commission in June by way of a check from the Michigan Department of Transportation for $661,000. The check from the state was for work the MCRC performed on state roads throughout the past year, and was used toward the service-drive project because of the dire shape of the road."
